3-day trip from Marrakech to Tinzert village

Embark on an invigorating 3-day trek through Morocco’s Western High Atlas. Day 1 commences in Marrakech, journeying to Imioughlad and Tinzert villages, with captivating acclimatization hikes. Day 2 leads through Azzaden valley, offering scenic views of Tiziane and Tahliwine villages, culminating in Tizi Oussem village for the night. Day 3, after traversing Tizi M’Zik, the descent to Imli village concludes this immersive experience, leaving with a deep connection to the Atlas Mountains.

Day 1

Marrakech – Imioughlad Village – Tinzert Village

We depart from Marrakech, heading south through the Moulay Brahim gorges, reaching the higher foothills of the Western High Atlas mountains at our starting point, Imioughlad.

After disembarking our vehicle, we meet our Berber muleteer crew, adding a fun element to our trek. We set off northwest for a 2-hour acclimatization hike on switchback mule tracks to the pass. Here, we pause for a picnic while enjoying the surrounding valleys and peaks.

We then embark on a leisurely 3-hour hike southwest along mule tracks to the red clay village of Tinzert.

Day 2

Tinzert Village – Tizi Oussem Village

Following breakfast, we venture southwest on winding mule tracks etched into the stark slopes, leading us to the Azzaden valley. The panoramic view encompasses several villages, including Tiziane and Tahliwine, before arriving at Tizi Oussem village where we spend our second night.

There’s an option to enjoy a rejuvenating Hammam.

Day 3

Tizi Oussem Village – Imli Village – Marrakech

After breakfast, we ascend through pine and juniper trees, traversing Tizi M’Zik. We then descend gradually to the base of the col just before the hamlet of M’Zik (1806m), where we halt for a picnic amid orchards of cherry, apple, and nut trees surrounded by peaks.

In the afternoon, we make our way down to the Berber trailhead village of Imlil, where transportation awaits for the return drive to Marrakech.

This day involves a 5-hour trek and a 1-hour transfer back to Marrakech.

  Hassan’s Wonderful Adventure
Hassan showed us a very nice part of Morocco that is only a stone’s throw from Marrakech. There are plenty of wonderful people in the Atlas Mountains and he is one of them. He showed us many wonderful sights on the tour, but also made sure that we got up and down from our trek in one piece. During the hike we also had a chance to learn about local culture, had a wonderful meal and had plenty of opportunities to take photos. Definitely a must do if you don’t mind heights!

  Super Guide in Imlil!!
Die Tagestour war wirklich phantastisch und ist sehr empfehlenswert. Frühstück in einer durch Frauen betriebenen Kollektive, die Argan Oil herstellen, dann Weiterfahrt nach Imlil. Wir wurden durch unseren Guide abgeholt, der netter nicht sein konnte. Auf einer ca 1 1/2 Stunden dauernden leichten Wanderung zu einem der Wasserfälle erzählte er informativ und fröhlich über Kultur, Land und Leute. Immer fröhlich und vergnügt spricht er mehrere Sprachen und half sogar beim anschließenden Mittagessen als Bedienung aus. Wenn wir wieder kommen, und das ist sicher, werden wir ihn anrufen und nur von ihm geführt werden wollen, sei es bei einer Wanderung, beim Skifahren oder Bergwandern. We discovered thanks to Hassan in Imlil a nice authentic picture of Maroc witch is not so far of Marrakech We saw the famous waterfall but next we left tourist way to discover a more authentic way in several villages where the colors are beautiful. Hassan explained us his culture and we finished with a delicious tajine in an auberge. Great moment: We recommend Hassan if you want to do this nice experience.
